Coach Larry Santowasso was awarded the NFHS NJ State Coach of the Year for 2016-2017.
This comes on the heels of a stellar baseball season where the RPS Baseball Team won their first Somerset County Championship in the history of the school! He was also named Courier News 2017 Baseball Coach of the Year, 2017 Skyland Conference Coach of the Year, and 2017 Somerset Patriot's Positive Coach of the Year. Over his 25 years of coaching at RPS, Coach Santowasso has been named the 2003, 2009 and 2012 NJ Prep School Coach of the Year and the 2013 Non-Public B State Championship Coach.
XTRA-Bases Baseball Camp has offered for over 9 years an instructional camp for boys ages 6 -14. Our camp is led by former Franklin Township Little League President, Dave Hameier and Rutgers Prep Varsity Baseball Coach, Larry Santowasso, who have over 30 plus years, combined, coaching experience.
XTRA-Bases strives to teach fundamentals, enhance techniques and improve all-around skills in all aspects of baseball, thus making the campers’ experience fun, educational, and challenging.
This camp is being offered the weeks of July 12-16th and August 16th -20th, 2021, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily on the Rutgers Preparatory School campus at 1345 Easton Avenue in Somerset, NJ.
The cost of each week is $235.00 or $395.00 if you register for both weeks at the same time.
Daily lunches are provided and included in the camp price and each child will receive a free tee shirt. We also offer aftercare from 3 PM to 4 PM for a minimal cost of $30.00 per week.

9:30-9:40 – Water Break
9:40-10:20- Skills & Drills
10:20-10:30- Water Break
10:30- 11:10- Skills & Drills
11:10-11:20- Water Break
11:20-12:00- Fun Baseball Activity
12:00-12:45- Lunch (included)
12:45-1:10- Throw (warm-up)
1:10-2:45- Baseball game
2:45-3:00- End of Day Activity
